Dear Northwest Families,
We have been monitoring the flooding and watching the forecast of the Big River. Several roads in the district are impassable and the Big River will crest during school hours tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) day November 6, 2024.

Starting Monday, Oct. 14, each Monday and Friday breakfast at elementary schools will be Lucky Tray Day! A student with a lucky tray, signified by a sticker on the tray, will win a prize.
Each elementary school will have two winners per day!

We visited a few classrooms at Cedar Springs Elementary this morning to see what our students were up to. From kindergarten students practicing their upper and lower case letters and alphabetizing to students working on their reading, writing, and math, our students are ready and eager to learn.
Homecoming Spirit Week starts next Monday, October 7th!
Congratulations to this week's #TeacherProudTuesday honoree, Cedar Springs Elementary reading resource teacher Heather Allen! CSE administrative intern Morgan Wallis said of Ms. Allen, "She is dynamic in and out of the classroom, supporting all students to peak their interest in books and pushing them to meet their goals."

Ms. McPherson's third grade students at Cedar Springs Elementary are doing a sweet writing activity today called "7up and M&Ms."
Students were given a small amount of M&Ms., and were asked to write sentences with seven words or more. For each seven word sentence they write, they get to eat one M&M. The students loved the activity, getting to practice their writing skills, and especially the M&Ms!
