We visited a few classrooms at Cedar Springs Elementary this morning to see what our students were up to. From kindergarten students practicing their upper and lower case letters and alphabetizing to students working on their reading, writing, and math, our students are ready and eager to learn.









Starting this week, we are honoring our #SupportStaffSuperstars at Northwest.
The first honoree is Valley Middle School paraprofessional Stephanie Kidwell! Dr. Spencer Storey, principal at VMS, said "Stephanie has a knack for listening to, understanding, and finding solutions for students and teachers." Congratulations, Ms. Kidwell, and thank you for all you do for our students at Valley Middle School!


Today is Custodial Staff Appreciation Day! We want to thank every single one of our Custodial Staff across the district for everything they do. From waxing floors to setting up tables and chairs for events, and so much more, our Custodial Staff is the absolute best. Across our district, we all want to say "Thank you!" for all you do for us in Northwest Lion Nation!


Congratulations to Maple Grove Elementary kindergarten teacher Paula Kennedy, this week's #TeacherProudTuesday honoree! MGE principal Aubrey Bauer said of Mrs. Kennedy, "She knows her students well and is constantly pushing them to be the best versions of themselves." Thank you for everything you do , Mrs. Kennedy!


SAVE THE DATE: The Kati Fisher Northwest Powder Puff Football game is Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 at Northwest High School! Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
Admission is $5, and all proceeds go toward scholarships for Northwest seniors!


Today, the fourth grade classrooms of Maple Grove Elementary teachers Mrs. Canepa, Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. Smith transformed into "Starbooks Cafe." Students took part in book tastings, menu math, and even had iced "coffee" treats and snacks for the morning. The students loved getting to try out different books in genres they may not normally read, and of course, they loved the snacks and drinks.











This morning, we welcomed back our Oasis Tutors for the year. Oasis Tutors are volunteers that work one on one every week with a student, reading together and fostering a love for reading. We thank them for their time and their work with our students!

At the September 2024 Board of Education meeting, which was held last night, Valley Middle School principal Dr. Spencer Storey recognized VMS Student Lighthouse members for their hard work and leadership.




Northwest employees are proud to continue their philanthropic endeavor, “The Northwest Way.” Employees have the opportunity to participate by donating a payroll deduction at an amount they select. This month’s recipient of The Northwest Way donation is Peace Pantry.


The Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO) announced Michelle Adams as one of its graduates of the School Business Specialist Certification Program (SBS). The SBS program is a two-year intensive course designed to prepare and grow current school district employees for the business office. During this program, Adams participated in training specific to Missouri in the following categories: law and regulations, business operations, best practices, ethics, and advancement of professionalism.
Adams, who is the Benefits Specialist for Northwest R-I, has successfully completed all program requirements and will receive a certificate at a MoASBO celebration ceremony in October at Osage Beach.
MoASBO Executive Director, Kim Cranston, commented, "This program is one-of-a-kind for Missouri business offices. I am so proud of our new school business specialists! They are dedicated to continuous improvement and staying relevant and resourceful in order to support students."


Valley Middle School held their Grandparents Breakfast this morning. A big thank you goes out to the VMS StuCrew for their work in organizing and hosting the event. We also want to thank SFE Chef Tori Christie and the incredible VMS Food Service Staff for their hard work in preparing appropriately 230 delicious meals.



Today is Computer Technician, Data Technician, Instructional Technology Specialist, and Instructional Technology Assistant Appreciation Day! Every day, we depend on the Information Technology department for so many things, from Chromebooks to our networks to our WIFI access points. Our IT department is an incredible team that works hard at their jobs to make sure that our school district is always online and ready. Thank you all for what you do for our students and staff!
