In CATS class, students developed countries using strategic thinking and cooperation to grow infrastructure, expand territory, advance technology, form alliances, and influence global events. This project encouraged students to apply academic skills in real-world simulations while fostering critical thinking, creativity, diplomacy, and leadership. Each country had a station where classes could talk with the citizens and learn about what had been developed.

Join us in celebrating the retirement of an extraordinary educator, mentor, and advocate — Karla Bunse! For 26 years, she has been a guiding light in our district, beginning her journey as a compassionate kindergarten teacher, then serving as an elementary school counselor, and most recently supporting countless students as our dedicated middle school counselor. Her impact spans generations — helping young learners take their first steps in the classroom, guiding children through their elementary years, and offering steady support during the transformative middle school experience. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy in every hallway and heart. Thank you, Ms. Bunse, for your years of dedication, your endless encouragement, and for always putting students first. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Wishing you all the best in this exciting new chapter!

The Woodridge Leadership Olympics will be on Wednesday, May 21. Students will be too focused on team building and having fun, so they will not need to bring a backpack on this day. If your student purchased an Olympics shirt, encourage them to wear it tomorrow! Let the games begin!

Today, we’re giving a HUGE shoutout to the amazing SLP who works at Woodridge, where communication challenges meet adolescence head-on! Ms. Komos is helping students find their voice, build confidence, and succeed both in and out of the classroom. From speech sounds to social skills, she is changing lives one conversation at a time. Thank you for your patience, creativity, and unwavering support for our students. You are truly appreciated!

We stopped by Woodridge Middle School this morning, where MAP testing is going strong and classroom learning never stops. For example, in Mr. Cathcart's class, students were diligently working on packets about the moon and its phases.

Woodridge would like to thank Mr. Chuck McPherson for all he does for the Northwest District as the School Communications liaison. Student Lighthouse's Jake W. surprised Mr. McPherson with some fun socks to match Mr. McPherson's fun personality.
