Chromebook and Charger Return Information for Grades 3-5

Dear Families,

As we begin preparing for the end of the school year, all students in grades 3-5 will need to return their district-issued Chromebook and charger to school.

Beginning Friday, May 15, teachers will start collecting Chromebooks and chargers. We ask that all devices and chargers be returned to school this Friday to allow time for inventory, assessment, and any needed repairs.

Starting next school year, students in grades 3-5 will continue to have daily 1:1 Chromebook access during the school day, (just like K-2); however, Chromebooks will remain at school instead of traveling back and forth from home. Each classroom will be equipped with a Chromebook cart for student use throughout the school day. We will follow the same procedures as K-2 and send home Chromebooks and chargers in preparation for AMI days.

This transition will help:

  • Reduce damage and lost devices

  • Ensure Chromebooks are fully charged and ready for learning

  • Allow technology support to more efficiently maintain devices

  • Increase instructional readiness for students each day

Please help your child locate and return:

  • Their district-issued Chromebook

  • Their Chromebook charger

Students should return both items directly to their classroom teacher.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we make this transition for next school year. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ritzel, HSE Principal

Explore STL Summer Reading Program
We are excited to invite you to be a part of our Explore STL Reading Program. This program will outline opportunities for you and your family to engage in themed books which are aligned to local activities around the St. Louis area. and an opportunity to explore the local library.

During your summer reading and adventures, we will ask you to complete a Reading Passport (Directions will be provided) and return it completed in the fall for an opportunity to celebrate with a Passport Party.

To get you and your student started, we are providing the first book. We have a limited number of starter books so it will be first come first served but ALL are welcome to participate in the passport activities. We will encourage you to visit the library to check out the rest of the books.

If you are interested in participating in the Summer Reading Program, please complete this form by MAY 13, 2026. The first book, or a passport paper, will be sent home with your child.

We took a quick walkthrough of the new House Springs Elementary gym this afternoon. The floor is freshly striped and the center court logo still curing. New bathrooms and sinks are tiled and installed. The natural lighting of the windows helps to brighten the space, while acoustic panels help control the echo normally found in gymnasiums. The section connecting the school to the gym is finished with stairs and a chair lift, ensuring all students have access to the facilities. We can't wait until our students get to use the new facility! This was made possible thanks to the support of our community with the passage of Proposition S in April 2023. Thank you!
