Water has overtaken many of the roads in the Northwest School District today. Currently, the Big River is set to crest at 28’ at 6:00 p.m. tonight. We would not have time for the water to recede and for us to have adequate time to check roads before morning buses. Therefore, we are going to have another (Alternative Method of Instruction) AMI day Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.

Dear Northwest Families,
We have been monitoring the flooding and watching the forecast of the Big River. Several roads in the district are impassable and the Big River will crest during school hours tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) day November 6, 2024.

Our amazing football community wanted to do something special to shine a light on October - National Down Syndrome Month. They contacted one of our HRE students, Tucker Watson and invited him out to join the team!
Mrs. Watson said, “All the boys, cheerleaders, and the coaches embraced Mr. Tucker just where he is. What more could a mommas heart need.”
The 4th grade Lions won the game in overtime 6-0, thanks in part to Tucker and his call in the final coin toss. Way to go Tucker!

The Northwest High School Cheerleaders pride themselves on their charitable community efforts, and over the past several years, numerous scholarships have been awarded to graduating seniors in the memory of Amy Simos. Amy Simos was a dedicated Northwest teacher and coach who was taken too soon in August 2012 as a result of an aggressive form of breast cancer. To honor her memory, the Northwest Cheerleaders host an annual contest called Little Miss and Mr. Northwest. This fundraiser effort allows students in grades K through 5th to register as a candidate and collect money through donations to ultimately be crowned the top fundraiser and earn the annual title of Little Mister or Little Miss Northwest.🩷 When: Registration starts now and the deadline is Sept 16. All contestants will have until Oct 7 to raise funds and each $1 is 1 vote. All participating students will be recognized and invited to ride in the Homecoming parade and the top 2 fundraisers will be crowned Little Miss and Mr Northwest. 🦁 👑
