A Message from incoming Superintendent Dr. Kyle Gibbs
Dear Northwest Staff, Students, and Community,
It is a great pleasure and privilege to greet you as your new superintendent. I am honored to join the Northwest R-1
School District, and I have the utmost gratitude for the opportunity to serve a community that clearly values
students, relationships, and a strong sense of pride in its schools.
I bring a career rooted in the Missouri public education system, with experience as a teacher, principal, and
superintendent. Throughout my journey, I have had the opportunity to serve in districts with diverse needs across
different regions of the state, gaining a broad, systems-level understanding of education. At the core of my beliefs
is a student-centered approach to education. As I begin this next chapter at the pinnacle of my education career, I
am excited to Love, Learn, and Lead alongside the dedicated staff, students, and families of Northwest.
Family is central to who I am and is a driving force behind my desire to serve and lead. My wife, Amy, is a lifelong
educator who currently teaches first grade, and her passion for students continues to inspire me and keeps me
connected with what life is like in the classroom. Our oldest daughter, Kyleigh, is a registered dietitian and was
recently married to her husband, Drew, a Mehlville firefighter. They live in St. Peters. Our daughter Karissa is a
junior at Evangel University in Springfield, where she is studying education and ministry. Our son Keaton is a
recent high school graduate who is working full time as he prepares to attend fire school. Our youngest son,
Karson, is a ninth grader in high school. As a family, we enjoy traveling, with a special appreciation for the beauty
of our National Parks. I also enjoy the outdoors and am an avid runner, having completed more than 50 marathons
and ultramarathons throughout the United States and abroad.
Education is my calling in life and I strive daily to serve as a servant and visionary leader for my students, staff, and
the community around me. Northwest’s motto to Love, Learn, and Lead aligns well with my belief that schools are
at their best when they show love for their students, maintain high expectations for learning, and empower students
and staff to lead with confidence and purpose. I am committed to being visible, approachable, and building strong
relationships across the Northwest community as we work together to support students, strengthen partnerships,
and continue moving the district forward. I look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks and becoming an
integral part of the Northwest community in the year ahead.
Best Regards,
Kyle D. Gibbs, Ed.D.
