We had a fantastic time at the 19th Kati Fisher Powder Puff Bowl this evening! Thanks to the juniors, seniors, and the Fisher family for another fantastic event in Kati's memory that benefits our seniors.

Our #SupportStaffSuperstar honoree this week is Lorrie Dale, instructional technology specialist at Brennan Woods Elementary. Water has overtaken many of the roads in the Northwest School District today. Currently, the Big River is set to crest at 28’ at 6:00 p.m. tonight. We would not have time for the water to recede and for us to have adequate time to check roads before morning buses. Therefore, we are going to have another (Alternative Method of Instruction) AMI day Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.

Dear Northwest Families, We have been monitoring the flooding and watching the forecast of the Big River. Several roads in the district are impassable and the Big River will crest during school hours tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) day November 6, 2024.

Congratulations to Woodridge Middle School music teacher Nate Boxdorfer, who has been named by Emerson as a 2024 Excellence in Teaching Awards honoree! This morning, students in the RISE Program at Valley Middle School got a head start on Halloween by going trick or treating at the Northwest Administrative Center this morning!

Graduating from high school is an exciting milestone for students, often marking the start of a new journey into college, a career, or a vocational path. However, some students encounter challenges in making these transitions smoothly and benefit from extra support. The STEPUP Program, offered by Lafayette Industries to several Northwest R-I School District seniors and others in the St. Louis metropolitan area, is designed to bridge this gap. Northwest Early Childhood Center Director Susan Wingenbach recognized early childhood special education teacher Melissa Myers for her work with our youngest Lions at the October 2024 Board of Education meeting held last night.

Northwest employees are proud to continue their philanthropic endeavor, “The Northwest Way.” Employees have the opportunity to participate by donating a payroll deduction at an amount they select. This month’s recipient of The Northwest Way donation is Feed My People.

Northwest employees celebrate Caring Community Connection (C3) days. This program assists local programs that are not part of our Northwest Way initiative. Employees who donate $5 are able to wear blue jeans on a designated day. The recipient of this month’s C3 program is Lafayette Industries.
