An End of the School Year Message from Dr. Kirchhofer

An End of the School Year Message from Dr. Kirchhofer

May 26, 2022

Lion Nation,

It has been a fast-paced finish for the 2022 school year. We had another extremely successful year with so many things to celebrate and be thankful for. Our elementary schools held field days and end of the year festivities to celebrate the year. Our middle school students enjoyed their award ceremonies, talent shows, and field day events as well. Our high school students winded down their school year, taking exams, completing projects and turning in their final assignments. The Senior Class celebrated all their years of hard work and learning with the culmination of graduation.

Last night, we celebrated the newest graduates of Lion Nation, the Class of 2022. This year’s senior class was awarded $7 million in scholarships. The class was representative of what we expect of our graduates. They are respectful, responsible, resilient and ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

At the ceremony last night, I shared that I believe Northwest is more than a place or destination. It is a feeling, a feeling of belonging, a feeling of family, a feeling of community. Northwest is a feeling of pride, and not just a place. If you are part of the Northwest community, you are part of something special.  Thank you to all the students, staff, families and community members who make Lion Nation what it is. The successes of this year are all thanks to the collaborative efforts of the students, staff, and the families.

While we are proud of many of the accomplishments and success stories of the year, we also look forward to a much deserved break for everyone. Earlier this week we visited some of our friends from High Ridge Elementary to hear about their summer plans, and here's what some of them had to say. (Click here)

Whatever you do this summer, whether it be vacations, staycations, summer school, or summer camps, take some time to wind down, decompress, and enjoy yourselves - it will go quickly.

Take good care, Lion Nation,

Superintendent, Northwest School District
