Oasis Tutor Volunteers Sought for 2021-22 School Year

Oasis Tutors will hold an information meeting on July 27 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the boardroom at the Northwest Administrative Center, 4290 Gravois Rd., House Springs, Mo. 63051.

Oasis Tutors partners with school districts across the region to pair one volunteer with one student in kindergarten through third grades for an entire school year. The tutors and students work together to build the student’s reading and writing skills along with their confidence.

Last spring, Covid-19 prevented one-on-one tutoring. As an alternative, tutors and students engaged in a pen-pal program, focusing on topics like family, activities, hobbies, and other interests. When Covid restrictions eased, Northwest Lion Care facilitated a meeting between the tutors and students who were finally able to meet in person.

Potential tutors unable to attend the July 27 meeting can contact Lori Deubner, Oasis Tutoring RSVP coordinator, at or call the Oasis Tutoring hotline at 314-995-9506. For more information on Oasis Tutoring, visit their website at
