Northwest Center for Academics and Therapy (NCAT)

Who we are: 

The Northwest Center for Academics and Therapy (NCAT) is a special education setting designed for students with significant social/emotional and behavioral needs. This program provides students with needed behavioral and therapeutic support in a safe and positive learning environment.


The Northwest School District has partnered with Compass Health to provide therapeutic services and mental health perspectives to the program.

Unique programming:

  • Small Class Sizes

  • We have teachers, paraprofessionals, and Compass therapists who staff the classrooms

  • Specialized training and proficiency in Handle With Care verbal de-escalation and behavioral modifications

  • Safe spaces for students to remove themselves from the classroom environment when escalated

  • Highly structured expectations and routines that create a foundation for success for students who thrive on consistency

  • Alarmed and keyed doors to ensure the safety of students who present with elopement risk

  • Kind, caring, and compassionate staff and leadership

Compass Health Partnership:

  • Full Time Therapist

  • Individual and group therapy

  • Intensive Case Management

  • In home support

  • Collaboration with Compass  behavioral Health

  • Staffed as appropriate
