Hi, my name is Debbie Lakin. I have been doing Parents as teachers for a very long time. Yet, I am still super excited to go into homes and work with families to get their children ready for kindergarten. I am married to my husband John, we have 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren. I spend every single Sunday with my entire family.
I have an associates degree in Human Services. I am slowly but surely working on my Bachelors degree.
Parents as teachers has been such a blessing in my life, not only as an educator but also when my daughters were young and I was a parent in the program. My Parent educator did a simple hearing test and we found out my daughter could not hear out of her left ear. She suggested we go and see an ENT which resulted in her having surgery to remove a mass from her ear. This experience helped me understand how important early intervention is. We work with families and do visits and give you ideas on how to make learning fun and inviting for your child. We also give parents great resources and set goals for each of your children. The last 33 years in this profession has been a true joy working with all the families
