I am a Northwest R-I School District graduate. I was inspired by my art teacher Sherri Talbott at Cedar Hill Middle School to become an art teacher. I've been teaching art since 1999.
I enjoy reading and I try to incorporate literature into my art projects. I am always looking for new books to help inspire new art projects for my classes.
I have four dogs and one cat: Hope, a Doberman; Ava and Eva (The Twins), White Labs; Brody, a Shepkita; and Violet, a cat. My Doberman, Hope, has inspired some of my art. In fact, Hope has helped me win a first place ribbon for a sculpture and a third place ribbon for and assemblage piece at the MAEA Teacher Exhibit.
I am an active member of the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA) and I am on the councile as the Student Art Exhibit Chair. Every spring, I encourage teachers to bring student artwork to MAEA's spring conference where their student's work is exhibited.
I received the Missouri Elementary Art Educator of the Year award in 2016.
