Mr. Severin Krautmann

 Bio:

I grew up on an organic farm near Cedar Hill MO.  I spent my days watching my father build and repair all manner of machinery and structures and helping out as best I could.  I am a very active person and spend as much time as I can outside.  I have played soccer most of my life, I started in grade school and played all the way to college.

As a young man some of my best memories are of watching my father building things in our home shop, that's why I decided to try and bring that joy and powerful information to the young men and women of the next generation.  I have experience in a very broad range of skills and a very broad range of materials from woods and metals to composites and plastics.  Before I started teaching I was a professional draftsman for an oil refinery and before that an electric company in college.  After being a draftsman I changed jobs to become a machinist and fabricator for about two years.

As a kid I repaired bicycles for all my friends in gradeschool and made lots of trinkety projects.  Through highschool I started into more advanced projects and materials.  I began to make sterling silver jewelry and started playing with fiberglass and epoxy resins.  In college I became fascinated with stringed instruments so I built a six string electric guitar as well as a six string fretless bass and custom tuning systems for both in the college machine shop.  Afte college I moved to Montana where I started my draftsman position.  When I left drafting in favor of honing my skills as a machinist and fabricator I also started a couple new automotive projects.  The first project was a full tear down and rebuild of a 1976 KZ900 motorcycle, the second is an on going project of creating an RV out of a 1949 Chevrolet short school bus.

I look forward to having your students in my classes and introducing them to the skills and experiences that the Industrial Arts have to offer.
